Can hotel stay's be written off?

I commute to work about 90 miles every day. Sometimes I get off late and need to be back early so I will stay in a motel. Is this a legitimate write off?Can hotel stay's be written off?
No. This is still considered commuting expense and isn't deductible. Can hotel stay's be written off?
I'm in the same boat, with a 75-mile one-way commute, and have to stay in the area of the job from time to time. Luckily my employer has agreed to pay for the hotel bills in these cases under their accountable plan. (It may still not be deductible for him, but he's agreed to take on that issue if it's ever questioned.)
No, you are still in your general home area, so it's a personal expense and not deductible.

That is one ugly commute if you mean 90 miles one way.
As mentioned = no deduction.

Unfortunately no. You are doing it for your convenience not at the request of the employer. I commute 86 miles each way and would like to do the same thing once in a while.
