Visiting Toronto and Niagara Falls in Dec any suggestions as to whether I should split my hotel stays?

We are visiting Toronto and Niagara Falls in December for a birthday celebration. I would like to spend the weekend at Niagara ( I think) and the rest of the week in Toronto downtown area. Should I book two hotels to do this or is it close enough to commute back to Toronto after seeing the sights in Niagara. I want to be in Niagara at night to see the falls light up and perhaps have dinner. I am looking at the Embassy Suites hotel. Anyone have experience with this property? Also looking at theMarriotttt tresidence Inn in downtown Toronto any suggestions will be appreciated. Also is there a likelihood of snow on the ground because I don't want to rent a car if there will be snow. Prefer public transportation if icy. Thanks Visiting Toronto and Niagara Falls in Dec any suggestions as to whether I should split my hotel stays?
From a cost point of view, you are going to get the worst of both worlds. Hotels in Niagara Falls tend to be most expensive on weekends, while most Toronto hotels have highest rates on weeknights due to business travel. Instead, I would suggest you go to Niagara during the week and arrange your stay in Toronto to take in the weekend. Depending on your choices of hotels, this could easily save you several hundred dollars!

Also better stick to public transportation. The road down to Niagara is often chock-full of traffic. Plus most downtown Toronto hotels charge as much as $30 per day for parking! The buses run to Niagara Falls frequently from downtown Toronto coach terminal at Bay and Dundas. There are two companies, Coach Canada and Greyhound. VIA Rail runs trains to Niagara Falls from Union Station at Bay and Front Streets, twice a day in winter. Once there, use the Niagara Parks Department People Mover shuttle or local transit buses to get around.

I would not try to commute back to Toronto after seeing the lights in Niagara Falls. Much better to stay in Niagara Falls overnight and travel the next day. There is certainly a possibility of snow on the ground, but it may be perfectly dry for your whole trip.

Good Car Food For Long Road Trips? and Hotel Stays? 2 yr old and Prego on board?

Doing the massive road trip thing and would like some other people's input on road trip food and what to have on hand at the hotel for late night nibbles.

We've got some granola bars, jerky, string cheese, milk (we bring a cooler), water, nuts, banana chips, and possibly yogurt/other dried fruit

but I thought someone out there probably has a fabulous idea of a good snack/meal. We can't do processed lunch meat since I'm pregnant and the 2 yr old shouldn't be eating much of that anyway.

Thanks for any suggestions!! Good Car Food For Long Road Trips? and Hotel Stays? 2 yr old and Prego on board?
Why not make some home-made picnic stuff that's good cold. Like potato salad, or egg-salad, or BBQ chicken you can put on a sandwich. If you have a cooler and keep ice in it you can keep perishable stuff like mayonnaise just fine. I've done it before.

Competition to win free hotel stays next year. Is it legit?

I was surfing on the Internet and found this Christmas competition that has just started online.

The trivago Christmas Competition.

http://www.trivago.co.uk/static.php?%26amp;sid=2033

I was just wondering whether anyone else had participated in the competition and what they think? They are giving away different hotel vouchers every day and all you have to do is write a review. I have traveled a lot and was thinking of writing a lot of reviews for the competition, but I was wondering what other people thought?

http://www.trivago.co.uk/static.php?%26amp;sid=2033

I will write a review today and see what happens, it seems like a really cool site and who knows, maybe I will win! :)

Do anyone else have any experiences with competitions like this? It would be really great to win a free weekend in a hotel next year!

Thanks!Competition to win free hotel stays next year. Is it legit?
You need to ask yourself why they would run such a competition, certainly not because they are generous, big hearted softies.

1. They will probably sell on all the contacts they made and you will get loads of new spam

2. The usual catch with the hotel ones is that you can stay for free but two of you have to dine in their restaurant and have a minimum spend. The nights available will almost always be when you don't want to go.

There is no such thing as a free lunch (or bed for that matter)!Competition to win free hotel stays next year. Is it legit?
Nothing in this life is free, it is a scam.

FrequentFlyer miles for Hotel stays in Japan?

I'm looking to go to Japan free of cost besides food and rail passes but I want to pay for all my hotels in FF miles. I'm currently enrolled with American Airlines but I haven't been able to find out where you can redeem miles for hotel stays internationality, if it is even possible.

I can get miles from American Airlines, Delta Skymiles, Early Returns, Hawaiian Miles, Midwest Miles, and U.S Airways Dividend Miles. If anyone knows if these plans allow for hotel stays using FF miles, it would be greatly appreciated. Finding out how much a night costs would be an even greater help.

Thanks!FrequentFlyer miles for Hotel stays in Japan?
I don't think any of airlines you indicated can allow you to redeem your mileage into any hotel expense in Japan currently.

Only some of them could add points on your mileage cards instead.FrequentFlyer miles for Hotel stays in Japan?
I don't think you can use miles of these airlines for Japanese hotels. These are all US airlines. You can't use miles from US airlines for Japanese hotels.

Hotel stays at affordable prices?

Hey, I'm thinking of going to LA by Easter, but if it weren't for money issues I would've gone there already by now...cos plane tickets aren't nothing like a problem compared to the stay itself..cos it's all so expensive per night..

So in case I can..anyone knows in LA where I can find affordable stays for like a week or two for me and my mom?Like...at least downtown where I have places to go (I'm 25 so no problem at gettin' in clubs...or if so anyone can tell me if there's anything I should know and which clubs are the best ones?)?

Thanks a lotHotel stays at affordable prices?
Looks like the Kyoto Grand Hotel in Little Tokyo (Downtown) is $82 a night on Expedia right now for Easter weekend (its 3 1/2 stars too!) Or try the Mayfair Hotel. It is in Downtown and reasonably priced.

In Downtown, the best clubs/lounges to go to are the Edison and Elevate.

BTW Elevate has dancing. There aren't really any ';dance clubs'; in Downtown, its more low key. I am 25 too and live in Downtown.Hotel stays at affordable prices?
“Affordable” is a very relative term. What one person considers affordable, another might consider extravagant. Personally, I’m comfortable paying $100-$200 per night for a decent or nice hotel. I’ve also payed less that $100 for Motel 6, but I don’t go into large cities expecting to pay less than $100 for something that’s clean, comfortable, safe, and close to attractions.

I generally don’t recommend stays at downtown hotels or airport hotels if you are coming to LA to see the sights. Those areas are really more geared to business travelers. The Kyoto, for example (formerly the New Otani, which I guess makes it the Old Otani), is right across the street from a bail bondsman, with views of City Hall and the old County Jail. There isn’t a lot to do, either.

When I go to San Francisco, for example, I like to stay down by Fisherman’s Wharf. From there, I can easily walk to many attractions, restaurants, shops, and galleries. Downtown LA is not like that, since it’s geared more towards the business traveler. If I were coming as a tourist, I would either stay in West Hollywood, Studio City, or 30 miles away in Anaheim. In West Hollywood, I highly recommend the Best Western Sunset Plaza, a very nice smaller hotel. If you want to stay in Hollywood, I recommend the Renaissance Hotel right next to the Kodak Theater, or the Holiday Inn Express, which is a less expensive option. In Universal City, the Universal Hilton gives you walking access to Universal City Walk. In Anaheim, I always recommend the Candy Cane Inn and the Howard Johnson. Both are close enough to walk to Disneyland and Downtown Disney.

During spring break, you are going to pay more for hotels. Yes, the Kyoto has an $81 rate, but that’s only for the weekend. It’s about $110 the rest of that week.

Hot clubs include Area, Arena, AD, LAX, Level 3, and Ivar.

Have fun!

  • Hi has anyone used travelocity tell me if you like the site to book hotel stays friday i was looking at prices

and it said 70 a night now it says 52 a night does this happen prices fluctuatingHi has anyone used travelocity tell me if you like the site to book hotel stays friday i was looking at prices
I've used Travelocity for years, and basically it is good. Prices do change, but usually by the date. Another good source is www.priceline.com. You can book a hotel, or make a bid. If you make a bid, you won't know which hotel, only the area. I usually book near airports, and have never been disappointed. My first bid is always VERY low. Like $40-45 and check a 3 -4 star hotel. Often I've stayed at Sheraton or Hilton right by LAX for $50 or less. The earlier you book the better, because sometimes you have to wait a time period before entering a new bid if you are being very careful with your money.Hi has anyone used travelocity tell me if you like the site to book hotel stays friday i was looking at prices
My favorite site to book hotel rooms is http://www.tripadvisor.com. It lets you check prices with expedia, travelocity, hotels.com, and more all at the same site. I have found that http://www.hotels.com usually ends up with the cheapest prices.

As to the fluctuating prices....I've found the same thing happens and I don't know why.

    Free hotel stays?

I was recently stopped in Orchard Rd, Singapore to answer a short survey, then was told that i won a 7 nights accommodation in a choice of 9 countries. I was encouraged to listen to a salespitch for membership of a travel club - something like a club med, but was informed that i was not obliged to join.

So i didn't. They gave me the voucher for the free accommodation anyway. My question is, do u guys think this is some scam. i don't remember the name of the company - something like Asian Travel Club... or something. The voucher is called The Voyager and is to be sent to www.starvacs.com - a very simple and somewhat suspicious website.

They ask for a credit card number to 'guarantee' the booking.

Have any of u heard of such arrangements and so u think it's real?Free hotel stays?
It is likely legit, but you should be aware of the fine print. Make sure that ';free'; means free. If there are hidden taxes, processing fees, or any charges at all, have them explained to you in full and then decide if you still want to participate. You've honored your part of the bargain by sitting through the presentation, so you have a right to the trip. Just find out exactly what the rules are first...Free hotel stays?
i don't know if it is real or not but i would not give my card over the Internet
The survey itself is just to see whether or not you qualify for the promotion.

The salespitch is genuine. They do want u to join their club.

The voucher is probably genuine, because I'm sure there are terms %26amp; conditions that ensure they get some profit out of it. Call them and find out! You're the one with the voucher... is there a number on it?

    Charging of Hotel Stays ?

I have a friend who wants to visit me. I want to put him in a hotel but if I come and stay with him at the hotel during the day, will the hotel only charge him for the room or will they charge me too...Charging of Hotel Stays ?
They will just charge him for the room. If anything he just needs to tell them when he checks in that there will be 2 adults. There is no price difference between 1 and 2 persons.Charging of Hotel Stays ?
If it's in the US, you pay for the room. In Europe some places charge by the person.
They will just charge him for the room.
Dear Friend, pls book double bed room and for two persons. So that you don't have to pay extra for Your stay.

    About Hotel Staying ? ?

The hotel only charges for whoever is staying the night ? Correct ??

So if I have a friend who checks in and stays 5 nights, they are only going to charge him / her... I want to see her / him during the days... if we stay in the hotel, they are not planning on charging for me too , will they ?

and to those with Dirty Minds, we are JUST friends... we're NOT that type of friend.About Hotel Staying ? ?
Extra guests are required to pay if you visit. Now if you sneak in or if they ';catch'; you sneaking in you will be forced to pay and you can get your friend tossed out of the hotel !!! Whether or not you want to go through the trouble of going through the front desk is something you will have to decide. Honestly if you have his room number and you know where you are going... just walk in like you are staying there and know where you are going and you won't have a problem. If you start acting weird and looking around you will get busted. Just walk in and go to his room (if you know the room number) and all will be fine. If you have to go to the front desk and ask questions.... you will be charged!!!

I've had all types of friends visit me in the hotels in Canc煤n... Your best bet if you can't do the above. Have him wear a certain type of clothing and meet you in the Lobby Bar. It will be so much easier and won't look suspicious. Everybody gathers in the lobby bar and you just walking in won't look weird. You both can meet normally and all is good without suspicions. You'll be fine... no worries!!!

Good luck in whatever you are trying to do!!!About Hotel Staying ? ?
You can have 1 or 2 adults in the room for the same price. Anyone after that they will charge an extra fee.

Snobbery! The very best hotels never use this approach. They value their reputation for excellent service and amenities and would never do anything to sully that image. Other hotels, though, claiming status equal to the finest establishments, treat patrons like supplicants whose honor it is to be admitted into the lobby.

The most extreme example I can think of is the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco. It has the worst service, the smallest, least comfortable rooms, and the rudest staff I have ever encountered. They overcharge and under-deliver. Compared to the Fairmont, which you can book for a similar rate, they are shoddy. (I must say, though, that if you are ever planning to have dinner at the restaurant in the Hotel Nikko, it is excellent. It's the only thing the place has going for it.)

What is the tax % for hotel stays in Florida?

I don't know the specific tax breakdown, but you're likely to pay about 20% in taxes in the Orlando/Disney area. Part of this is sales tax, part ';bed tax'; and a host of other things as well. We don't have a state tax in Florida, so we basically tax the tourists. What is the tax % for hotel stays in Florida?
I paid 11% on a visit there a few weeks ago. What is the tax % for hotel stays in Florida?
i would ask the hotel you are staying at.

in orlando it is either 11% or 12% depending on where you are staying. (that is the sales and hotel tax together)
last time i was in florida the tax was different in every county.
the current sales tax in florida is 7%
it varies by county - ie. Lee county is 5% but that is not consistent throughout other cities.

    Tax deductions and hotel stays.?

I am looking to buy a home 60 miles north of where I live. I have a home based biz. If I were to get a hotel room in the city where I am looking to relocate to... would that be a purchase that is tax deductable? I want to make sure I have ample time to look around and get a feel for the area. And YES I am looking to keep my biz in my home.Tax deductions and hotel stays.?
yes, its a business expense. tbaTax deductions and hotel stays.?
I'm not sure that it is a deductible business expense unless you can demonstrate that the cost of the hotel is a necessary expense of running your business. Otherwise, the IRS may consider it as personal travel or a pre-move house-hunting trip, neither of which is deductible. (See IRS Publication 521 for information on deductible and non-deductible moving expenses.) I'd be more confident if the previous answer cited an IRS publication or form that states that it is deductible, but it doesn't.

In the absence of something more definitive, I would consult with your accountant. If you accept incorrect advice from this website, you're legally liable - not the person who gave you the wrong information.

Tent camping or Hotel staying: which do you think is better and why?

ThanksTent camping or Hotel staying: which do you think is better and why?
I am an Alaskan and do a LOT more tent camping than I do hotel staying because I much prefer the first to the latter. Camping is fun, exciting, and very rewarding in so many ways. Staying in a motel or hotel isn't much in the way of excitement unless a rock band happens to be staying on the same floor and are trashing the place. On the other hand, camping assures me that I am going to experience wilderness and wildlife at its best....the way I prefer it. LOTS of pristine scenery, sights and sounds I cannot find in a hotel anywhere I know of. And photo-ops that can appear at virtually any moment of the day. There just isn't anything I have found that can compare to the thrill and excitement of sleeping in (and waking up to) the GREAT outdoors. The BEST I can hope for in a hotel is to see it on the outdoor channel of cable television. In a tent, I can live it and perhaps even be the star in that video on the outdoor channel. Be a star. Camp out in a tent. Don't watch the adventure, LIVE IT, and have fun.Tent camping or Hotel staying: which do you think is better and why?
It totally depends on what your purpose is. Personally, if I'm on a business trip or visiting family I'll stay in a hotel. If I'm hunting, fishing, or otherwise engrossed in recreation I prefer to camp in a tent. Sadly my old bones can't do that without an air mattress anymore, but that's still roughing it.

    ;-)
Depends where you are going and what your purpose is. If you are going up to the mountains I`d take a tent over a hotel any day. If you are going to NYC or some other populated area it`ll be hard to find a place to pitch a tent, so a hotel would make sense.
well, personally, i would prefer a hotel because i'm posh... but...

tents are less expensive, sometimes the easiest place to stay, and some people prefer it because they prefer the wilderness and stuff

and hotels have modern amenities and are more comfortable
I much prefer tent camping. It gets you close to nature.

It's much less expensive, and food cooked on a camp stove is every bit as tasty as you could want.
Hotel=bed and shower = clean and rested = YAY!

Tent=hard ground and dirt = ewwww gross!

  • What is the average spending, other than air ticket and hotel stays, for a 5 day trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil?

Another Sao Paulo related question...I am now working on the budget for my 5 day trip(by myself). I don't think I will spend much on shopping(except for souvenirs), but will spend on dinning at high-class restaurants. Plus, I will take cabs to travel around; based on the descriptions, conservatively, how much do I have to set aside for this trip? What is the average spending, other than air ticket and hotel stays, for a 5 day trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil?
Sao Paulo is a very Sophiscated city.

They are many expensive restautants , but in average you should spent more than $50 per meal. Taxes are cheap ($10) .

If you are tempted , there is some great fashion in Brazil .

I would pay everything by Credit card , but make sure you have enought , reals( the local currency , for cabs and drinks in bars)What is the average spending, other than air ticket and hotel stays, for a 5 day trip to Sao Paulo, Brazil?
in a high class restaurant, you will spend about R$ 50,00 (US$ 25,00) per person.

I think US$ 100,00 a day you will have a great time here
why only 5 days ? not sure what deals you've got.. but if you're spending 600 - 800$ on an airline ticket.. and $200 on passport and visa .. dont think u would be getting your moneys worth of such a short stay
R$ 80,00 (around U$35,00) will do for a classy restaurant. If you're not shopping a lot, then U$1000,00 is enough.
I would take about 1,000 bucks to be safe. Think about the currency exchange. American money is worth more than the BRL. FOr only 5 days, you got break lunch and dinner andyou said fancy restaurants, so you wont be dining and looking for a 7 dollar dinner, you are going to be going to first class restaurants? Plus, souviners, tourist attractions, bottle of water here and there. Transportation. Thats 200 bucks a day with the 1,000 dollars. I dont even spend that much money in a week when im on vacation, LOL!

I recommend hotwire.com. Check online for rates and then call the hotel's 1-800 number. If you can't find a 1-800 then try the hotel directly. Most hotels will beat the online prices, but don't lie. They won't even work with you if you lie, I work in the industry and I assure you the staff knows what the online rates generally are.Where is the best place to find discounts for hotel stays?

How do you get comps for free hotel stays in Vegas?

Get a player's card from the casino. Then use it everytime you gamble.

And don't expect that by dropping $100, you'll get a free stay on your next visit. You need to gamble a lot to get a free stay. That is why you may want to find which casino or casino chain you like and stick with it.How do you get comps for free hotel stays in Vegas?
It probably isn't worth it. Most casinos give away rooms to people who they believe will lose several times the price of paying for the room. Even a downtown casino was giving away rooms to people who gambled a total of $15000 to $22000. Since rooms were usually $40 it is much higher probability that you will lose much more than $40 gambling that much money.

    ===================

Most systems are geared at length of time gambling, not a couple of big bets. You will often see men getting very upset because they lost bets for hundreds of dollars and then are not given a room. Casinos don't want to reward a few big bets because they can go either way. They like people who make hundreds of small bets who are much more likely to get the statistical ';expected value'; which is to lose.

Gamble, Gamble, Gamble. Make sure you always use the players club card for every time you gamble. Try to gamble in casinos owned by the same corporation. It is better to spend that way than to spread it around to different casinos. The other way is to have a big win. You will be given a free stay on your next trip to get you to put the winnings back into their casino. Doesn't work like the old days where you just have to look like a big spender. Now they can keep track of it.
Get a players card at a good locals casino like the orleans, station casinos, or casino in downtown vegas which is easier then the big names , wynn, bellagio mandalay bay to get a room.. You need to keep track of your card and points
to get comped a free hotel stay, you 1. have to be staying at the hotel. 2. be able to gamble at least $500 a hand at blackjack for several hours a day.
Simple - you have to be willing to gamble a LOT more than the room is worth.

If you want a $100 room comped, you will be expected to gamble with $500-$1000 a day, every day.
You dont just get them. If you are an establish high roller it is authomatic. If you use the players club card and establish a good gambling record you may get deals.

Does Celebrity China & Crystal really give away hotel stays?

I recently attended a bridal expo. Celebrity China %26amp; Crystal called to say I won two goblets and a hotel stay- but both I and my fiance have to attend a 90 minute presentation. If anyone else has ';won'; this before, will they really give me the hotel stay if I sit through the presentation?Does Celebrity China %26amp; Crystal really give away hotel stays?
Hey I won this a couple times. This is how we got all of our flutes for the reception. Yes they do and a free camera with life time film developing, at least they did at my show. There are certain rules and regulations with the hotel stay and you have to pay fifty bucks but normally the rooms cost at least 100-150 so you are still saving money. And the presentation only last for like 60mins not 90 and they do make ya lunch.

They do try to sell you some plates and cookware but in my group only one person bought it and he really didn't press they matter.Does Celebrity China %26amp; Crystal really give away hotel stays?
Good luck. You probably will have to sit through their 90 minute presentation and then sit with a sales person at the end of that.

They use this technique with time share selling.

They may offer you a little weekend away in the middle of nowhere and in the middle of winter and two goblets that no one else wanted to buy.

Good luck - only go if you have time on your hands.
i just attended one of their ';presentations'; just last week. really it was sitting through 90 minutes of them telling me how important it was for me to ';invest'; in good china %26amp; cookware. they said they'd serve dinner, but what we actually got was a tiny bowl of chicken %26amp; veggies for my fiance and i to SHARE. we totally hit up jack in the box on the way home. we did get the champagne glasses and the hotel stay, but for the hotel you have to pay like a $50 deposit or something like that, and you have to choose from certain places. they also said that at the hotel there will be people doing a presentation for a time share, so there's more bullsh*t you'll have to sit through. they said that they only talk to couples getting married to encourage them to ';register';, but it doesn't even work like a real registry, you have to make this huge order of their china and cookware sets, and then your friends and family can just contribute money to it, so if nobody contributes then you're still stuck footing the whole bill yourself. there's no web site for them to order individual pieces from, and all orders are made over the phone, which means whoever is processing the order will likely try to talk them into putting down more money. uncomfortable situation all together, really you should just take your free prizes and head for the door, and don't go on an empty stomach!

The best place to look for this type of discounts is SearchAllDeals. Just start with a search term like ';Disney World';.
You can get a time share with Disney and stay On-Site.
Actually the presentation is only 90 min. Just go there and listen to what they have to say and be real with them and just decline to buy the share from them.

  • How do you tip a parking valet for an extended hotel stay?

My husband and I are in a Waikiki hotel for 2 weeks with valet parking only. Parking fee is $18/day, which is $252 for 2 wks! That's a lot of $$ for us (we got the hotel for $50/night from Priceline). We're not really here for leisure, but for his one-month rotation in the U of H. Are we supposed to tip every single time they park or retrieve the car for us (which is at least once a day)?

My husband told me that he doesn't see any other people tipping the valet. When he tipped someone at one time, he said the attendant seemed surprised. I know the correct etiquette is to tip the valet, but how often and how much when you're staying in a hotel for an extended period of time?

I was thinking of leaving the tip in an envelope on the last day, but is this appropriate, and if so, how much?

Thanks for your help. How do you tip a parking valet for an extended hotel stay?
Yes I would give him a one off tip at the very end. If you want to do it in person then just say ';thanks for your help, we appreciate it'; and give him a nice smile. If you want to put it in an envelope and leave it at reception or something just put a little note inside with similar words.

Enjoy your trip! How do you tip a parking valet for an extended hotel stay?
Check with the front desk, or better yet just ask the valet what the standard is.

Daily cost of living & weather in Sao Paulo, Brazil (for Hotel Stay, Food and Transportation)?

I am traveling to Sao Paulo, Brazil in Oct'09 end for around three months, so I want to know the following things

    - What is weather like from Oct to Jan in Sao Paulo %26amp; Rio (also average Temp)

    - How expensive are the hotels (also are these basic Kitchen available in rooms) any suggestions?,

    - Are there some kind of service apartments also available there for short stay will all or basic amenities

    - How is local transport in Sao Paulo, (Metro, Buses and/or taxis) %26amp; best way to commute.

    - How much a veggie food options are available in the cities

    - Best local food outlets to hang out (like McD)

    - What is cost associated with all theseDaily cost of living %26amp; weather in Sao Paulo, Brazil (for Hotel Stay, Food and Transportation)?
I麓ll try to answer your questions, ok? sorry about my english because I麓m Brazilian and I live in S茫o Paulo...

    1. Nowadays is Spring, so the weather is warm (average 24潞 a 29潞 C), but in S茫o Paulo has the four season in the same day. Example: morning rains, evening sun and night is cold. So, bring umbrella, overcoat and light clothing.

    2. The most hotels are expensive in the South Zone or Jardins. So, in the centre is regular hotels. See this site about good hotels or flats and best location, like Oscar Freire street or Moema: http://www.hoteisemsaopaulo.hoteis.com.b鈥?/a> Obs: in Brazil just have site in Portuguese and few people speak english here. They speak english in airport and hotels, but other places no.

    3. Many flats offers service room or laundry.

    4. You didn麓t say where you to be stay here... so, transport in S茫o Paulo is very complicated. Bus is TOO much full and dangerous (have assault inside the bus) - I don麓t like to take bus in SP... I prefer metr么 is more safety than bus and you can do commute for others lines. Taxis is so espensive and the traffic is caotic here. Average 150 km of traffic cars every day!

    5. In SP has few veggie foods (restaurante vegetariano)... is more safety eat in malls (here call: shopping center).

    6. All Shopping centers have fast food (Mc Donald麓s and fast food local like: Bob麓s, Giraffa麓s.

    7. S茫o Paulo is bigger and expensive. You need to bring reais with you, not just dollars, because the most places accept just reais. So, I think that you spend R$ 2.000,00 for month .Daily cost of living %26amp; weather in Sao Paulo, Brazil (for Hotel Stay, Food and Transportation)?
    - What is weather like from Oct to Jan in Sao Paulo %26amp; Rio (also average Temp). A: Season will be Spring and Summer, quite warm, can get on 100F

    - How expensive are the hotels (also are these basic Kitchen available in rooms) any suggestions? A: For a nice neighborhood, consider at least 150 dollars/day

    - Are there some kind of service apartments also available there for short stay will all or basic amenities. A: Yes, you can find it

    - How is local transport in Sao Paulo, (Metro, Buses and/or taxis) %26amp; best way to commute.A: There is no best way to commute here, for car there is a lot a traffic, and commute is not very efficient. But there are metro, buses ad taxis. If you are coming to work, consider to be close where you work, same advice for any interest that brings you here. Trust me you won't like.

    - How much a veggie food options are available in the cities. A: You can find healthy food very easily, also if you are vegetarian.

    - Best local food outlets to hang out (like McD). A: We don't have this kinda food here, as local, it will be pretty much McDonald's, Burger King.

    - What is cost associated with all these. A: None of these cities are cheap, Rio can be a little bit cheaper than Sao Paulo.

Should I surprise my wife with toys at a hotel stay after a Christmas Party.?

The place I work at is having a Christmas Party and I suggested to my wife we get a babysitter and a hotel room so she can get ready before the party and I can go from work and change. She called and made the plans and knowing what was on my mind she got us a hot tub room.

Also sex between us doesn't happen very oftern.

Now the hot tub means potentially a certain position will be taking place that night which is a little crazier than normal. That leads me to the question of getting some toys to make things even more kinky or will that just freak her out?

She knows I am a very horny man and when walking through a desert all one thinks about is water.Should I surprise my wife with toys at a hotel stay after a Christmas Party.?
By the toys..and have a blast!Should I surprise my wife with toys at a hotel stay after a Christmas Party.?
Get the toys. they are so great.
Buy the toys, but keep them hidden until you tell her about them. If she likes the idea go for it, if not throw them away!
    Loser.

Only NERDS look forward to the company christmas party- as if that is some HIGHLIGHT of their WHOLE YEAR!

    LOL!!!

Should you tip a maid for a one-night hotel stay?

I'm about to stay in an upscale establishment for one night. This will be the fourth one-night stay I've had this year (in different hotels), and it never occurred to me to leave a tip for the maid until recently. I definitely am not leaving much of a mess behind, just some towels and maybe a few things in the trash can. Is it customary to leave a tip behind regardless?

Additional information: I live and travel in the U.S. only. These hotels generally cost $100-$200/night, in metropolitan districts.Should you tip a maid for a one-night hotel stay?
This is an excellent question. Unfortunately, it's not really customary, but think about thier job....Whether it's an upscale hotel or just a plain motel, I feel we should all leave a tip for the maid. Think of what these people do as opposed to the waitresses/waiters out there who seem to get a tip no matter what they do (or don't do) Maids clean up the most personal aspects of you. They clean the dirty soap scum left in the tub. They change the sheets after only God knows what went on the night before. They scrub out your toilet (and we all know what goes on there) They empty your garbage, full of smelly beer bottles full of backwash, used dental floss, used condoms.... These maids most likely have no decent education which means not much money. Give them what you would a waiter/waitress who can pull in as much as $300 a NIGHT in tips alone for doing what.... bringing you food and checking to see if ';everything's ok';....Should you tip a maid for a one-night hotel stay?
You should, assuming you found the room in good condition upon arrival. If you had to call down for basics, such as no towels, dirty tub, etc., then you should not tip because the housekeeping staff didn't do their job well.

Tips to housekeeping are truly voluntary, and are above and beyond a decent wage (no less than minimum). I typically leave $2-4 a night even on a one night stay.

Here's how I do it to maximize my level of service:

1-2 nights: full tip first morning ($2-4 per night)

3-5 nights: 2 days' tip first morning, then 1 tip per day after (no tip on check out)

    6+: 1 day's tip every morning.
It depends. When I stayed at the Sheraton in Hawaii, I tipped $5 a night. Last weekend I stayed at a one star hotel in Williamsburg, VA, I tipped $3 a night. I used to date someone who worked as an executive in a hotel chain. It's international custom to tip the maid no matter where you live. It's expected of you. But I don't believe there's a rule how much you give. When I was in Southeast Asia, I gave about $1 a night. But that's me.
The maid works for crappy money.

It is cutomary but most people don't leave tips for her for what reason, I don't know.

There's the person who pumps your gas in the dead of winter for close to 0$ and the waiter makes shite money.

The maid cleans your toilet, wipes god knows what from places not normally full of god knows what and is generally unappreciated and underpaid.

    yes. Tip your maid.
Yes, you tip even if you only stay for one night.
    Mark your tip clearly. Leaving cash or change in the room is not a clear enough signal, as a hotel maid must be very careful about taking anything from your room. Enclose the tip in a sealed envelope (check the desk drawer for hotel stationary) and mark it ';Chambermaid.';

Leave your tip in an obvious place. On the television, on a pillow, or on the bathroom counter are all common places to leave the maid's tip.

Tip according to service and hotel type. In a luxury hotel, tip about $3-5 each night. For an average hotel, $1-2 per night is fine. If the maid goes above and beyond in service, such as providing extra soaps and shampoos or folding towels in the shape of swans (for example), feel free to leave a dollar or two more.

Don't tip for poor service. Like all tips, if you're not satisfied with the service the maid is providing, don't leave a tip (or reduce the amount you would tip).

    Tips:

Leave a tip in cash, not with spare change.

If you can't find an envelope, or the hotel doesn't provide one, wrap the bills in a blank sheet of paper, labeled appropriately.

When you travel internationally, find out how to write ';maid'; or ';Chambermaid'; in the local language so you can label the envelope appropriately.
Yes, you should always leave a tip for the maid. We generally fold about two dollars inside a piece of note paper, marked ';for the maid'; and mentioning our room number and the date, so she's sure it's meant for her.

We aren't messy people, but there's always a certain amount of work to do -- changing the bath and bed linens, swabbing or vacuuming the floors, emptying the trash baskets at the very least. Considering the fact that not every guest leaves a tip, it's a nice thing to do.

Advice for hotel guests: Bring along a big safety pin or clothes pin -- sometimes the window curtains don't close completely. Bring your own travel alarm clock, in case setting the hotel's clock baffles you. Put your luggage on the console or on a luggage rack, never on the bed. If you need to sit down to put on your socks and shoes, open your bed to the sheets -- don't sit on the blanket or the bedspread. They aren't washed very often.

You may take home the note pad, and any of the little bottles of shampoo, lotion, mouthwash, etc. if you think you'll use them. They are included in the price of the room. All bed and bath linens, and any other room furnishings, must stay with the hotel.
Love the question. Housekeepers like waiters/waitresses and hairdressers provide a service to you. If you spent $100 at a restaurant, how much would you tip your waiter/waitress? And that's only for about 2 hours of work on their part. A housekeeper's work is on display for you through the duration of your stay, meaning that you have many hours to see their virtues and mistakes. Tips are gratis for a job well done, so leave as much or as little as you believe they deserve, but leave something. Also I would recommend leaving a daily tip if you stay for multiple days because sometimes a different maid will get your room on different days.

Housekeepers not only appreciate money, but also items. I once had a business person (quite rudely) tell me that he couldn't afford to give tips. He was trying to add a tip onto his room for his housekeeper so that his company would reimburse him for it, but many hotels do not have this capability. In other words we couldn't add $10 to his bill for a tip. But he did have a bunch of promo Nascar mini-cars with his company logo on them. My housekeepers loved them!

When is the best time to book my hotel stay for my Las Vegas Trip on April 16-19?

I couple friends and myself are going to Vegas in April and im wondering when is the best time to book. I put myself on the mailing list for most of the major Hotels on the strip. However, it always seems that the best deals that include VIP club passes, buffets and free casino play, usually come along with the stipulation that you are planning on going within the next couple of weeks. Our Airfare has been booked and paid for months back and i'm afraid of waiting too long to book a hotel and getting burned. A coworker of mine who goes often keeps telling me I should wait it out since our economy is in recession and Las Vegas isn't drawing the crowds like it used it too, so the deals will keep getting better? Any body have any advice? When is the best time to book my hotel stay for my Las Vegas Trip on April 16-19?
Unlike what someone else said, prices for hotels change on April 1. Thea begins the busy season here in Vegas. April, May and June are the busy month followed by September and October. That is when the weather is perfect here. Not cold and not too hot. That is why you aren't getting lower prices or better packages for that time. If you find one you like you should book it as soon as possible. I doubt they will run out of rooms here. This year is particularly difficult to tell how the rooms will sell. The only ones who have a vague idea are the hotels themselves with the advance reservations. If they book good in the early stages like now for then they will start to raise the prices. If advance bookings are low then they will drop the prices. This is the slow time of the year here right now and they are running all kinds of specials to get as many people here to fill the empty rooms. That is why you don't see coupons, package deals after April 1.When is the best time to book my hotel stay for my Las Vegas Trip on April 16-19?
The earlier the better. Your price is locked in regardless if the airfare or room fees go up. If you go with a travel agent they can usually give you a heads up if an increase is on the horizon and when it will go into effect. You don't pay any more to use one. I always go to Vegas and find my trips on Funjet.com. I call my agent and get the exact same fare as on the websit. Have fun.
It is the best to book as soon as possible IMO. If you book directly with your desired hotel you can cancel and rebook most of the time. Before you book I would check the current hotel promotion codes in order to lower the price. Check http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com for this.
Book ahead of time, sometimes when you don't book, it gets filled and there wont be space to book in, I would book in as soon as possible, the early the better.
I would book as soon as possible.
Unlike other US cities, there is no peak or off-peak seasons in Las Vegas. Hotel room prices changes from day to day and sometimes from hour to hour. The price you will pay depends on what else is happening in town on that day. To get a great price,

    My suggestions:

    1) Check-in on a week day and not a weekend.

    2) Check the convention calendar to make sure there are no major events in town.

    3) Book on time.

    4) Look for deals and promo codes.

Where could I complain about a hotel stay?

my sister and I stayed at a hotel, whatever could go wrong , did go wrong, we have photos of the filthy bathrooms, we had fleas in the changing rooms , staff not understanding english, simple english like one girl didn't know what a milkshake was. we paid 750.00 pounds for two nights. there are a lot more things but dint want to bore you with all the details. I have complained to the hotel head office and they acknowledge in writing the standards were not up to standard and then gave 169.00 refund. The photographs I have show filthy windows, 2 inch thick pigeon droppings on the window sill, dirty toilet and mouldy shower. the hotel said end of story with the 169.00 refund. I really feel I want to take this further. This is a big named hotel and we were '; supposed'; to be in the presidential suite and the next one downWhere could I complain about a hotel stay?
Contact consumer direct ( a government agency) www.consumerdirect.gov.uk you can send info. to them through their site or phone them. If they think the problem is severe they will refer it on to the environmental health or trading standards organisations.Where could I complain about a hotel stay?
First thing you need to do is do NOT bank the cheque if you are not happy with the settlement. If you have done so, you have accepted it. End of story.

If you haven't, go to your CAB and show them everything you have and explain that you want to take this further. You should get at least half what you paid, i.e. 拢375. You may be directed to the small claims court and if your case is that strong, you should have success.

If you do succeed, go to www.tripadviser.com and write about your experience.
if you booked via a travel agent and live in the uk then you can tell the travel agent you want to make a complaint to abta (association of british travel agents) and they will make the ivestigations to see whats going on.

    best of luck.
Write an article n publish it in d newspaper along wid d photos
Okay cause stay in a good hotel
Wow 拢750 for just two nights! You'd expect far better standards for that (you don't mean 拢75 do you?)

I would suggest you write your own review of the hotel on the internet - if the hotel is on laterooms.com, you can add a review just click on the link. Add one to as many general hotel 'comparison' websites as you can find.

To be honest I think they should have refunded you the whole amount, as a poxy 拢169 is frankly insulting isn't it! If you haven't banked the cheque already, don't as that constitutes you accept it. Even if you have I would still find out the name of the General Manager (the receptionist can tell you), and write a personal letter of complaint/disappointment anyway, including the photos. If you have no luck, baring in mind this is a group of hotels, you can find out who the Area Manager is and write to them too.
It depends on where you stayed. If you stayed somewhere in the States (because you said ';presidential suite'; and ';the girl didn't know english';...both common themes in America) then you should contact the Better Business Bureau in that city and complain. If you stayed somewhere in Europe (I'm assuming because you said ';pounds'; and used a ';u'; in the word moldy) then try and find the equivalent of the BBB there. There is always Hotels.com...they accept reviews. Also, if you just type the name of the hotel into google, it should give you a business address and an option to review it. Then tell everyone you know and spread the word.
stop staying at crappy hotels then

  • I recently won a free cruise/hotel stay from http://www.bahamagetaways.net/ ...legit?

I entered my information in some kind of drawing at my gym, and I won a free cruise/hotel stay - courtesy of this organization http://www.bahamagetaways.net/... Now I see a few answered questions on here where people are declaring it to be a scam....but is there anyone who can give me a reason to think otherwise? If I don't get a response I'm just going to assume it's a scam. Has anyone actually won this ';contest'; before and been on the cruise?

thanksI recently won a free cruise/hotel stay from http://www.bahamagetaways.net/ ...legit?
I would be very very careful of such a deal. Once you give them your credit card, you are most likely screwed. You see, the only way to win a true free cruise is when you enter a contest put on by the cruise company like Princess, or Carnival, or Royal Caribbean itself. Remember if it is too good to be true, it probably is. There are companies out there trying to get you money anyway they can. So the bottom line is do your investigating before you give them any money. The cheapest you will find a true cruise for now a days is about $100 a day person. I would ask a ton of questions first. This agency you got is only a travel agent, or so they say. I'm afraid I would not trust them.I recently won a free cruise/hotel stay from http://www.bahamagetaways.net/ ...legit?
It's likely legit. What these companies probably do is get comp vacation packages from the cruise company and hotel as part of some promotion they're running. So, they offer the package as a prize that you can win by just submitting your contact information. If a lot of people enter the contest, the cruise company, the hotel, and the travel agency get all these contacts where they can send out promotional materials, or even sell your contact information to other marketing companies.

A hotel stay and a basic cruise (inside stateroom for a fairly short cruise) is actually fairly inexpensive and really doesn't cost the companies very much to provide for free (well, almost free - you're still paying about $200). They can also write the full rack rate off their corporate taxes as a promotional expense.

If it makes you feel better, you can contact the Better Business Bureau about this travel agency. But, I wouldn't automatically assume it's a scam.
Not legit.. It will end up costing you about $500. by the time you pay the fees and surcharges. This is not a Cruise.. but an old ferry.

You DON';T get your deposit back..

There is plenty written about this scheme.. you didn't win a thing. You just got on someones ';sucker'; list.

Ive rang them and they said it only shows the 拢69,they will look into it and ring me today, guess what they didnt call back,i sent them an email with a copy of the statement to prove it,no reply!

I now have 拢30 for the week,i have council tax to pay on monday and was planning on going on holiday the next week, which looks doubtful now.

Im going to keep calling them until i get some answers,i just think it stinks they can ';accidentally'; take that amount with no explanation and then make false promises to get back to me. Any help would be nice especially from someone who has been in the same situationIve been over charged for a hotel stay..help!?
MMMMMMMM i read your question with interest,

it is most odd that the hotel will recharge you 拢150 normally you just pay a deposit ie 50% with the balance due at the end.

The hotel will have records of ALL card reciepts (by law kept 5 years) so this should be easy to trace ask your bank for the time the money was taken either way they will have a record of it you will need a copy of your reciept and the time from your bank and their bank book should show it or some-one is pulling a fast one on you and the hotelIve been over charged for a hotel stay..help!?
Call your bank immediately and contest the charges.
call your bank and dispute the charge they will refund your $
go to ur bank they should be able to help
I suggest u go to ur Solicitors and tell him that u'd like to black mail them or give them a bad reputation..:

    :D
You need to contact the hotels group head office as you have tried to sort this out with the one in Leeds and they have ignored your request.

Tell the hotel chain manager that you want it sorted out asap, They must keep records of all their transactions and that if you not given a suitable explanation or a refund of your money, that you will contact the police as you feel there is fraudulent goings on with members of their staff and card transactions . They won't want a visit from the police and hopefully will resolve the problem.

To find the main office ring any other Bewley hotel and ask which one is classed as the main hotel, I'm sure they will tell you.
    You've not been overcharged.

What they did - and what virtually ALL hotels do - is run a 150 pound authorization on your card to cover any charges you might make to your room while you were there, or any damage you might cause. The authorization will 'drop off' when no paperwork goes through. This may take up to 10 days. (150 quid isn't high.... I've seen hotels run as much as a $1,000 authorization)

In future, do NOT use a debit card at a hotel for exactly that reason - use a credit card, or give them a cash deposit.

Can anybody recommend which city and hotel stay at in Thailand?

A girlfriend of mine and I will be going to Thailand soon and specifically we're looking at Bangkok (but we're not limited to that area). We're into the nightlife (dance clubs, restaurants, and bars, and could enjoy some touristy stuff during the day) and am looking for an area with a good clean vibe. (It would be nice to throw in some beach time, but I'm thinking my time might be too short for it)

Because we're both single girls (in our late 20's, early 30's), we'd like to venture out to spots which would have decent looking straight men with a good mix with the crowds. In addition I'll only be staying there for a week or a little bit more and will be looking at staying in a hotel. I did see a lot of 4 star hotels around but am wondering if anybody would have any first hand recommendations. Also, should we rent a car when we get there, or should we just use public transporation?

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

(Thailand is not my first choice as a destination for this type of trip, but we're accompanying her parents there so they can take care of some business there. Her parents will of course be off and doing their own thing)Can anybody recommend which city and hotel stay at in Thailand?
stay at the Oriental Hotel in Bangkok. Can anybody recommend which city and hotel stay at in Thailand?
Sounds like Bangkok may be the place for you. There is no lack of hotels and nightlife venues and someone here should be able to point you into a direction where you can find your single straight guys.

A week is not a lot of time especially since you will be jet lag as well. I wouldn't recommend traveling around too much since 7 days is really not much time in Thailand.

If you do want beach time head to Pattaya but there are a lot nicer beaches in Thailand than Pattaya but Pattaya is closest to Bangkok.

If you do go to Pattaya you may want to enjoy the nightlife in Pattaya for a night. Spend a night in Walking Street. Pattaya may be the best Party place in Asia and even though it's tailored to the single men's desires, you will definitely have a blast.

As far as renting a car goes I would definitely say no. Thailand's public and private transportation system is great and inexpensive. If you have never been driving in Thailand, forget it!

Enjoy your week of vacation and hire, taxis, motorbike taxis, tuk tuks, and buses.
Bangkok is not far but, not close to a beach. The most popular one is near Pattaya, about 90 miles south of Bangkok, about 2 hour drive by taxi or bus. You could spend the day and return no problem. You could hire the taxi to take you there, take you around Pattaya and take you back to your hotel for a fixed sum probably. Negotiate. A hired driver from your hotel could cost 4500-6000 baht, you could probably hire a taxi for 2500 baht or so maybe.

Hotels? There are many to choose from and all price ranges. If you are thinking 4 star which is great. To me its a matter where I stay and its environs. If you don't mind the noise, traffic and the pollution stay along Sukhumvit Road, or in the Siam Square area. Most of the touristy type places, Wats = temples, Palaces, etc. are east of Siam Square. Shopping for clothes and things, should be done in the MBK Centre, Platinum Mall(8 floors of clothes) or the other Siam Malls.

For entertainment, dancing in particular, I liked the RCA area, there are 3-4 clubs there to choose from. You can take a taxi there.

Most tourist things are easily accessible by taxi. But, Bangkok traffic is terrible, it may be better with the worsening economy. I try to take the BTS Skytrain which runs through the major parts of Bangkok and the MTA Subway to get around then take a taxi if needed.

Guest's gift bags for hotel stay - Casino Theme?

I'm getting married in May at a historical mansion, and after the wedding, about 1/4 of the guests are going to the casino across the street. They will be staying the night, and I would like to have a gift bag for each room. So far, I have a gift bag with poker chips on it, and inside there will be:

    2 bottles of water

    Bag of pretzels

    Hand sanitizer

    Chocolate coins

$5 Starbucks gift card (there is a starbucks in the casino)

Can you think of anything else that is creative to put in the bag? Thanks:)Guest's gift bags for hotel stay - Casino Theme?
    Casino chips

    gum

    coupons for the local atractionw

    map

Good luckGuest's gift bags for hotel stay - Casino Theme?
I think you did really well with your gift bag so far. I would give you more ideas based on what type of gift are you giving at the reception if any?
See if you can get the casino to give you anything. If you call them and explain what you are doing, they should be happy to give you little things for the ags. Just be sure to talk to a casino manager not just the person who answers the phone. Maybe they can provide maps, cards, shot glasses, dice or even a few casino credits.
Give them a deck of cards so they can practice or play with if they don't want to gamble.

Is this a scam? Hotel stay...?

My girlfriend won a 3 day 2 night trip, to anywhere in the USA (well not anywhere, they gave us a long list to choose from). The catch is they want a $50 refundable reservation fee. My dad told me growing up that if its too good to be true, it's probably not true.

Is this a scam to get an easy $50 or do places that do this are actually legitimate? Is this a scam? Hotel stay...?
Scammers are out there everywhere. Don't buy into it. If she didn't sign up in any contest, they just randomly call to find a chump.

Any reservation I've ever made (and I've made quite a few) don't require a reservation fee.

You're dad was right. Good that you listened to him.Is this a scam? Hotel stay...?
Someone I know signed for a trip like that, they then gave them about 3 days out of the whole year they could go, wouldn't refund the cash either, yep, it IS a scam.

  • One week free hotel stay in China.?

I read from CNN that Americans traveling to China who display flu-like symptoms may be randomly quarantined over concerns with H1N1 flu virus, or if you had sat on the airplane next to someone who was with fever and sick.

I am thinking, why not - presuming they would quarantine us in a cheap but reasonable hotel at their expense. If I can't go anywhere, except cooped up in the hotel room and some restricted amenities, I should at least get !!one week's FREE CHINESE FOOD!!, right?

    My questions are

    - what is the best city in China to get one week's free stay knowing that my movement would be restricted, I could at least be allowed to sit on the balcony and enjoy the sight and sounds?

    - what are my chances of getting quarantined?

    - how to induce fever that last just long enough for them to quarantine me?One week free hotel stay in China.?
If you personally are quarantined due to having a fever, it will most likely be at a hospital, not at a hotel. You will be tested for H1N1 and monitored to see if you develop further symptoms. Trust me . . . you do not want to be quarantined in a Chinese hospital!

If you are quarantined because someone near you on the plane had a fever, then yes, you will be put up in a nice hotel. However, you will not be allowed out of your room. You will only be able to talk to people from your doorway. You will not have any interaction with anyone other than the health officials who will bring you your food and necessities. Hotel staff won't be allowed to interact with you in case you develop symptoms.

You will be allowed to have internet access and phone access. You will have television, but not necessarily in English. You will have Chinese food, but you probably won't have a wide selection.

If you are a business person who can use the time to conduct business, etc. (like the mayor of New Orleans did), then it's not so bad. However, if you wanted to see China and only have a couple of weeks to do so and you spend half of that time in quarantine, then it's not a fun thing to do.

You won't see anything of the city you are quarantined in until the quarantine is lifted.

As a general rule, there are no balconies in hotels in China.

Also, ';authentic'; restaurants in the States, owned and run by Chinese people, do not always have authentic Chinese food tastes. The menus are adapted to fit the audience and usually have a bit different tastes. However, some of them are real enough. I have found, overall, though, that Chinese food outside of China is different from that which is found here.

Good luck! One week free hotel stay in China.?
If you do get quarantined, please let us know. Please send your story to us.
You do know that they have Drs in China right who would check people? And you do know that WESTERN Chinese food is NOT real Chinese food right? Chinese hotels dont have balconies unless you are in Sanya. Grow up. Do you think they will also give you a free flight over there? And do you think you wouldnt be billed for your stay?

Restaurants owned by Chinese people, who have Chinese cooks, which are as far as I know ALL ';Chinese'; restaurants in western countries, I have never seen one that wasnt owned by a Chinese person and didnt have a Chinese cook DO NOT SERVE TRADITIONAL CHINESE FOOD. They may have one or two authentic dishes, and they will cook authentic for Chinese customers, sometimes.

The food you eat at a Chinese restaurant in the US or Canada or Britian or where ever IS NOT AND CANNOT BE FOUND IN CHINA. There is NO similarity at all.

You will NOT find western style chowmein, or sweet and sour chicken balls covered with batter, or anything covered with batter and deep fried, you will NOT find chili beef or anything else you like. You will NOT find the same flavours anywhere in China.

Honestly most westerners feel authentic Chinese food is not something they like . I personally like steamed rice, and some of the vegetable dishes in Northern China but there is no comparision at all.

Airport Parking and Hotel Stay at Glasgow Airport

I'm going on holiday from the 28/09/2008 to 13/10/2008. I need parking for this time but I would also like a hotel nearby to stay at on the night I return. My flight doesn't get in until 3am on the 13th of October. I've googled around but can't find too much information about parking BEFORE my hotel stay etc. Anyone got any suggestions?Airport Parking and Hotel Stay at Glasgow Airport
Holiday Inn do a parking %26amp; stay package. You will need to pay in advance with a credit card to reserve your booking regardless of your arrival time. But, nevertheless, advise them of your arrival time at the time of booking and get them to record it on your confirmation.Airport Parking and Hotel Stay at Glasgow Airport
Holiday Inn Glasgow Airport - Right across from the terminal. Book your car into the long term parking - on return, check into the hotel (right across the road from the terminal), once you check out, go back ocross the road to the bus to the parking.

There's also Holiday Inn Express, Premier Inn and Travelodge nearby. They do deals where you can book your accommodation and parking while your way in one lot. generally a good deal, and includes your transfer to/from the terminal.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express - Clean, comfortable and easy access to the airport - you can walk as its the one at the other side of the car park, bewteen the airport and the M8. Didn't do it your way round, but give them a call.
I dont know the names but you can find them on internet but for airport parking its about 拢20 per week outside airport and they have a minibus to take you and pick up from airport, there is a hotel at the airport. Can you not get a taxi to and from home.
There is an hotel beside Glasgow Airport.

Soldier Denied Hotel Stay - Why did it take 2 months for this story to arise...?

One of things that people seem to have overlooked is the fact that the story about the soldier who was denied a hotel room in Woking actually happened in June, two months ago. Think about folks, a whole two months have passed since this squaddie was denied a room in he Woking hotel and it is only now that it has hit the press. The actually squaddie in question is now back in Afghanistan and is out of the loop.

Can anyone explain the delay in this story hitting the MSM? Why the delay? Why id this take two months to become mainstream?

    Atlantic City hotel stay.....please help?

    Hi,

I'm going to a bachelor party the 24th of Jamuary. The soon to be groom and others are staying at the Borgata. Me and my friends were looking for cheaper hotels on the boardwalk as we have no money. I've looked at the super 8 and others but they are about 2 miles away from the Borgata.

My question is are taxis ridiculously expensive? Is there alternative transportation besides driving? Any ideas on other hotels for around a hundred would be appreciated. And lastly is it too far to walk, I know it will be freezing.

    Thanks!!

    Atlantic City hotel stay.....please help?
Why don't you post your question in the correct category ... this one is for travel to Las Vegas. You will get a better answer if you place it in the right city.Atlantic City hotel stay.....please help?
First of all, there are some really bad neighborhoods in Atlantic City once you get a couple of blocks from the casinos. To walk from the boardwalk to the Borgata would require you to walk through what may be arguably the worst area in all of New Jersey.

Also, ask yourself do you really want to leave a good batchelor party to take a cab back to some dumpy motel on the boardwalk. If the answer is reall yes, you shouldn't pay more than $10 for a cab from the Borgata to the central boardwalk area.
Your best bet is BookMe.com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites, and save money. Good luck!

THAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?

I'll be travelling to thailand this month.

I'm interested in shopping cheap clothes and visiting historical landmarks that include PAGODAs.

I need an advice from those who are thai's or who already traveled there. OTHERWISE, dont waste my time!

    Anyway: here are my concerns:

    a. i'm planning to get the cheapest, but tolerable place to stay in. I'm not looking for a 5-star..IF I DECIDE TO JUST PAY FOR MY AIRFARE..WILL I GET A HUGE DISCOUNT ON MY ALLOWANCE IF I JUST FIND MY OWN PLACE WHEN I GET THERE? or IS THERE NO PRICE DIFFERENCE when i book in advance? Any recommendations?THAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?
I would certainly book on line for your first night or two especially if you're new to Thailand and you are arriving at an inconvenient time. There isn't much difference in price online or otherwise if you know your way about, otherwise you're at the mercy of touts at the airport and you definitely will be overcharged. This applies to taxis as well.Ignore the guys at arrival and go outside to the official taxi rank.....As always I recommend the D'Ma Pavilion on Makhasan Road,Its a thoroughly lovely place and mid-range.....Google D'ma Pavilion for infoTHAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?
i would head for khoa san road there are lots of accomodation options in the surrounding area especially rambuttri road next to it. the area to head for is banglampoo and you can get a bus from the basement of the airport there are lots of markets there to for clothes, jewellery and food
you can find and compare hotel rate at http://www.relaxthai.net
Try Asiativ.com I always do and always get a good deal.Good-Luck
Thailand is a beautiful country with stunning scenery and wonderful people. I would book at least 2 weeks before you went to get good deal on hotel of your choice as last thing you want to do after long journey is look for hotel.

Where ever you decide to go you will have a wonderful time.

I have found agoda.com to be the best for hotel rates and I use airasia.com all the time for internal flights.

I suggest you go and look at tripadvisor.com for what to see and do and read the reviews of people that have done the trips.

If you want Culture then you must go to Chiang Mai and visit the Temples within the City walls and in the Mountain. Please also do a trip to Royal Palace which is also in Mountain near temple. Another good trip would be to go to Tiger Sanctuary. Good Hotels for as little as 800Bht a night You cannot go to Thailand without spending at least 3 - 4 days in Bangkok - so much to see and do.

Best place to relax and for stunning scenery is Ao Nang, Krabi and there you can visit Phi Phi and other stunning islands.

If you want to let you hair down then the only place to go to party is Pattaya.

Where ever you decide to go you will have a wonderful time in The land of Smiles
There's normally no specific discount for booking a hotel in advance. Some travel agencies may offer some type of discount when you book a hotel along with buying the air ticket, but it's hardly worth it especially if it's your first time in Thailand - you won't know if you like the hotel or not until you actually get there. Most hotels are pretty cheap in Thailand anyway, and the cheapest ones probably won't accept advance bookings. I always used to stay in 3-star hotels costing around USD 40 - 60 per night, but you can get a lot cheaper accommodation than that if you want. And Thais are in general very helpful and courteous people: the locals can help you find a place to stay. Just be wary not to be conned, which can happen in any city in the world.
I would recommend booking online before you arrive. I stayed in a 2.5star in Bangkok and 5 star hotel in Phuket, both were more expensive when we wanted to add additional nights. They told us our discounted rates were only online. Even if you have to go to an internet cafe-do it ahead of time. Good luck.
There are many websites offering discounted room prices. Thai hotel rooms are available from US$10 to US$1,000. Generally you get what you pay for. In general rooms in the US$70-US$100 range will be safe, clean and comfortable. Many websites will have traveller's reviews which you should read before booking.

You are highly unlikely to get a cheap ';walk-up'; rate, or at least not as cheap as booking on one of the above sites. Quite apart from the fact that it's much less hassle to know where you're staying when you get to Suvanbhumi.

On such as www.expedia.com you can book the flight and the hotel in one fell swoop at (generally) discounted rates. But compare the alternatives (i.e. air fare your travel agent can get you plus hotel only on the web, v.v. expedia's total package).
i booked for three weeks it's nice to stay in Thailand and have fun it'll be good for you to have some friends there to guide you where should you go!if you'd like me to guide you to shopping cheap clothes i really appreciate but you may not trust me that im a real shopper i'll be in Bangkok on August 3th if you have any question ask me im Thai you can trust me^^some advise you should book a hotel that's on sukumvit road because it's covinence to take BTS(skytrian) or MRT(subway) taxi is easy but it's dangerous sometimes

i'll be there to help you.when you landed in Thailand tell me okay i'd love to take you to grand place and wang suan pak kat (i spelled it wrong) not for business but just want to have friends to hang out with i'd love to help you

    Hotel stay question...?

    I was looking around for a hotel for my honeymoon and it states, as perk for a 'romance package', - ';Your choice of room accommodations';

What does that mean?Hotel stay question...?
Different rooms have different things in them. Some may have a jacuzzi tub or a great view. Some are suites rather than just a room. So you have a choice of which kind of room you want.

The list they show means you can choose the type of room like I stated above. The chocolates, room check in/out are extras included in the package. You still have to pick what kind of room you want. The extras are considered amenities to make your stay more pleasant or comfortable.Hotel stay question...?
it means it includes all of the things you mentioned. Its a romance package because all of those things are for couples to enjoy together. A lot of hotels in Vegas offer this year round and most hotels offer their own special package around valentines day. This one seems standard though and if it cost more for you to stay there with these things than buy them yourself and skip it, I would. Its not worth it if the amount is way more than a standard stay because all they are giving you is chocolate and champagne plus a small late and early check in and out and calling it a romance package.......
Since they have already stated that the room is the Whirlpool Suite, I would assume that ';your choice of accomodations'; means the bed/smoking type that you want. Either 2 doubles, 2 queens or 1 King and then smoking or non-smoking.

It really depends on what hotel you are looking at.
    Depends on the hotel...

Ussualy it will be things like chocolate, champagne, late check-out, possible spa entrance, ect ect. Things that can be considered romantic I suppose.

    Guess i was accurate.. huh?

    I will pick Grand Vista.

When visiting a new city, how does one get info on the high crime areas in advance, so as to plan hotel stays?

I don't want my family and I to book a hotel in a drug infested, high crime community. All the economy hotels online look great, by their picture alone, and you can't go by that. When visiting a new city, how does one get info on the high crime areas in advance, so as to plan hotel stays?
Call the city's Chamber of Commerce or Visitor Info Center (most major cities and ';tourist'; towns have one...).

Or call the non-emergency number for the local police station. I know its an odd question to ask them. But, I've done this when moving to a new neighborhood and the police can be very helpful.

I have lots of ideas but don't know your budget. Hence honestly giving you the best. All you have to tell these hotel guys that it's your bf's birthday and you want a class, excellence in it. They will do it for you. It is the Emirates Palace

Go out 4 dinner dat 'll b a better way 2 impress ur bf
depends where you live ?look for pamper stays and where you go to a really special hotel and get a massage or spa bath wonder full dinner champagne the works you also can tell them for a special menu to your taste?four poster bed and your breakfast in the late morning?how does that sound have a great time whatever you choose
A candle-light dinner at the pool-side of your ';own'; villa in the Beauforte at Sentosa would be great,.
The best times I have had with my bf's birthdays were planning and throwing a big surprise party for him... He will appreciate you taking the time to bring his and your friends together in his honor. Another night it might be also nice to go for dinner and a show. I don't know how old you are, but I guess that you may not have any place to do ';it'; in privacy together? Another thing is try not to do too much because then he'll always expect a lot from you...
My then gf (Now wife because of things like this) showed up at my home on my bday as I thought we were going to dinner. Told me to pack a bag and that she was kidnapping me for a special bday trip. She had booked a mini suite at Paris in Las Vegas and it was the coolest, sweetest time. So i suggest an unannounced road trip to a hotel somehwere you can get a candle light dinner and, well, let your imaginations do the rest.
u did not tell more information, so i can only suggest , simple 1,,,,go out in a wide park , that the sorroundings is cool , plenty flowering plants a cute little falls or bridge or a swing then bring a small cake and with the simple 1 candle there , get ready with ur ligther and 2 fork, there u sing a song for him and let him wish and blow , that is during afternoon only and at nite u will be the 1 to plan dinner n hotel
    What's your budget?

A hotel stay at a cute inn is very romantic... especially if you keep the destination a surprise. You may want to pack your and his stuff, add some sexy stuff, and announce that you're taking him somewhere special for his special day.

When you book the room ask for special treats and mention his b-day. Many hotels may upgrade your room or offer you something extra... make sure you get a good location, maybe ask for flowers, champagne (or sparkling AJ) or bring that yourself.

    Good luck!
