Where could I complain about a hotel stay?

my sister and I stayed at a hotel, whatever could go wrong , did go wrong, we have photos of the filthy bathrooms, we had fleas in the changing rooms , staff not understanding english, simple english like one girl didn't know what a milkshake was. we paid 750.00 pounds for two nights. there are a lot more things but dint want to bore you with all the details. I have complained to the hotel head office and they acknowledge in writing the standards were not up to standard and then gave 169.00 refund. The photographs I have show filthy windows, 2 inch thick pigeon droppings on the window sill, dirty toilet and mouldy shower. the hotel said end of story with the 169.00 refund. I really feel I want to take this further.This is a big named hotel and we were '; supposed'; to be in the presidential suite and the next one downWhere could I complain about a hotel stay?
Contact consumer direct ( a government agency) www.consumerdirect.gov.uk you can send info. to them through their site or phone them. If they think the problem is severe they will refer it on to the environmental health or trading standards organisations.Where could I complain about a hotel stay?
First thing you need to do is do NOT bank the cheque if you are not happy with the settlement. If you have done so, you have accepted it. End of story.





If you haven't, go to your CAB and show them everything you have and explain that you want to take this further. You should get at least half what you paid, i.e. 拢375. You may be directed to the small claims court and if your case is that strong, you should have success.





If you do succeed, go to www.tripadviser.com and write about your experience.
if you booked via a travel agent and live in the uk then you can tell the travel agent you want to make a complaint to abta (association of british travel agents) and they will make the ivestigations to see whats going on.

Wow 拢750 for just two nights! You'd expect far better standards for that (you don't mean 拢75 do you?)





I would suggest you write your own review of the hotel on the internet - if the hotel is on laterooms.com, you can add a review just click on the link. Add one to as many general hotel 'comparison' websites as you can find.





To be honest I think they should have refunded you the whole amount, as a poxy 拢169 is frankly insulting isn't it! If you haven't banked the cheque already, don't as that constitutes you accept it. Even if you have I would still find out the name of the General Manager (the receptionist can tell you), and write a personal letter of complaint/disappointment anyway, including the photos. If you have no luck, baring in mind this is a group of hotels, you can find out who the Area Manager is and write to them too.
It depends on where you stayed. If you stayed somewhere in the States (because you said ';presidential suite'; and ';the girl didn't know english';...both common themes in America) then you should contact the Better Business Bureau in that city and complain. If you stayed somewhere in Europe (I'm assuming because you said ';pounds'; and used a ';u'; in the word moldy) then try and find the equivalent of the BBB there. There is always Hotels.com...they accept reviews. Also, if you just type the name of the hotel into google, it should give you a business address and an option to review it. Then tell everyone you know and spread the word.
