THAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?

I'll be travelling to thailand this month.

I'm interested in shopping cheap clothes and visiting historical landmarks that include PAGODAs.

I need an advice from those who are thai's or who already traveled there. OTHERWISE, dont waste my time!

Anyway: here are my concerns:

a. i'm planning to get the cheapest, but tolerable place to stay in. I'm not looking for a 5-star..IF I DECIDE TO JUST PAY FOR MY AIRFARE..WILL I GET A HUGE DISCOUNT ON MY ALLOWANCE IF I JUST FIND MY OWN PLACE WHEN I GET THERE? or IS THERE NO PRICE DIFFERENCE when i book in advance? Any recommendations?THAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?
I would certainly book on line for your first night or two especially if you're new to Thailand and you are arriving at an inconvenient time. There isn't much difference in price online or otherwise if you know your way about, otherwise you're at the mercy of touts at the airport and you definitely will be overcharged. This applies to taxis as well.Ignore the guys at arrival and go outside to the official taxi rank.....As always I recommend the D'Ma Pavilion on Makhasan Road,Its a thoroughly lovely place and mid-range.....Google D'ma Pavilion for infoTHAILAND..hotel stay with no advance booking..HELP!?
i would head for khoa san road there are lots of accomodation options in the surrounding area especially rambuttri road next to it. the area to head for is banglampoo and you can get a bus from the basement of the airport there are lots of markets there to for clothes, jewellery and food
you can find and compare hotel rate at http://www.relaxthai.net
Try Asiativ.com I always do and always get a good deal.Good-Luck
Thailand is a beautiful country with stunning scenery and wonderful people. I would book at least 2 weeks before you went to get good deal on hotel of your choice as last thing you want to do after long journey is look for hotel.

Where ever you decide to go you will have a wonderful time.

I have found agoda.com to be the best for hotel rates and I use airasia.com all the time for internal flights.

I suggest you go and look at tripadvisor.com for what to see and do and read the reviews of people that have done the trips.

If you want Culture then you must go to Chiang Mai and visit the Temples within the City walls and in the Mountain. Please also do a trip to Royal Palace which is also in Mountain near temple. Another good trip would be to go to Tiger Sanctuary. Good Hotels for as little as 800Bht a night You cannot go to Thailand without spending at least 3 - 4 days in Bangkok - so much to see and do.

Best place to relax and for stunning scenery is Ao Nang, Krabi and there you can visit Phi Phi and other stunning islands.

If you want to let you hair down then the only place to go to party is Pattaya.

Where ever you decide to go you will have a wonderful time in The land of Smiles
There's normally no specific discount for booking a hotel in advance. Some travel agencies may offer some type of discount when you book a hotel along with buying the air ticket, but it's hardly worth it especially if it's your first time in Thailand - you won't know if you like the hotel or not until you actually get there. Most hotels are pretty cheap in Thailand anyway, and the cheapest ones probably won't accept advance bookings. I always used to stay in 3-star hotels costing around USD 40 - 60 per night, but you can get a lot cheaper accommodation than that if you want. And Thais are in general very helpful and courteous people: the locals can help you find a place to stay. Just be wary not to be conned, which can happen in any city in the world.
I would recommend booking online before you arrive. I stayed in a 2.5star in Bangkok and 5 star hotel in Phuket, both were more expensive when we wanted to add additional nights. They told us our discounted rates were only online. Even if you have to go to an internet cafe-do it ahead of time. Good luck.
There are many websites offering discounted room prices. Thai hotel rooms are available from US$10 to US$1,000. Generally you get what you pay for. In general rooms in the US$70-US$100 range will be safe, clean and comfortable. Many websites will have traveller's reviews which you should read before booking.

You are highly unlikely to get a cheap ';walk-up'; rate, or at least not as cheap as booking on one of the above sites. Quite apart from the fact that it's much less hassle to know where you're staying when you get to Suvanbhumi.

On such as www.expedia.com you can book the flight and the hotel in one fell swoop at (generally) discounted rates. But compare the alternatives (i.e. air fare your travel agent can get you plus hotel only on the web, v.v. expedia's total package).
i booked for three weeks it's nice to stay in Thailand and have fun it'll be good for you to have some friends there to guide you where should you go!if you'd like me to guide you to shopping cheap clothes i really appreciate but you may not trust me that im a real shopper i'll be in Bangkok on August 3th if you have any question ask me im Thai you can trust me^^some advise you should book a hotel that's on sukumvit road because it's covinence to take BTS(skytrian) or MRT(subway) taxi is easy but it's dangerous sometimes
