Ive been over charged for a hotel stay..help!?

Last month i stayed at the Bewley's hotel in Leeds. I only stayed for the 1 night which cost 拢69 and paid with my debit card and recieved a reciept which i still have which clearly states ive been charged 拢69.

I check my online bank statement today and there in black and white is the 拢69 charge and from the exact same date, same hotel another charge of 拢150 !!!

Ive rang them and they said it only shows the 拢69,they will look into it and ring me today, guess what they didnt call back,i sent them an email with a copy of the statement to prove it,no reply!

I now have 拢30 for the week,i have council tax to pay on monday and was planning on going on holiday the next week, which looks doubtful now.

Im going to keep calling them until i get some answers,i just think it stinks they can ';accidentally'; take that amount with no explanation and then make false promises to get back to me. Any help would be nice especially from someone who has been in the same situationIve been over charged for a hotel stay..help!?
MMMMMMMM i read your question with interest,

it is most odd that the hotel will recharge you 拢150 normally you just pay a deposit ie 50% with the balance due at the end.

The hotel will have records of ALL card reciepts (by law kept 5 years) so this should be easy to trace ask your bank for the time the money was taken either way they will have a record of it you will need a copy of your reciept and the time from your bank and their bank book should show it or some-one is pulling a fast one on you and the hotelIve been over charged for a hotel stay..help!?
Call your bank immediately and contest the charges.
call your bank and dispute the charge they will refund your $
go to ur bank they should be able to help
I suggest u go to ur Solicitors and tell him that u'd like to black mail them or give them a bad reputation..:

:D
You need to contact the hotels group head office as you have tried to sort this out with the one in Leeds and they have ignored your request.

Tell the hotel chain manager that you want it sorted out asap, They must keep records of all their transactions and that if you not given a suitable explanation or a refund of your money, that you will contact the police as you feel there is fraudulent goings on with members of their staff and card transactions . They won't want a visit from the police and hopefully will resolve the problem.

To find the main office ring any other Bewley hotel and ask which one is classed as the main hotel, I'm sure they will tell you.
You've not been overcharged.

What they did - and what virtually ALL hotels do - is run a 150 pound authorization on your card to cover any charges you might make to your room while you were there, or any damage you might cause. The authorization will 'drop off' when no paperwork goes through. This may take up to 10 days. (150 quid isn't high.... I've seen hotels run as much as a $1,000 authorization)

In future, do NOT use a debit card at a hotel for exactly that reason - use a credit card, or give them a cash deposit.
